Landscape paintings – Jenny Charlotta Wood
Artist’s statement
When a landscape resonates with me, it is the colours rather than the shapes that first capture my attention. Through my paintings, I share this unique perspective, drawing from a memory where colour and emotion play together.
Having spent half of my life near the Swedish coast and the other half in Britain—more recently in Scotland—I am deeply influenced by the distinct atmosphere of the northern landscape. The ever-changing scenery across the four seasons never ceases to amaze me, and I strive to recreate the profound beauty of nature. Even in dramatic weather and harsh environments, I find calmness and harmony in the shifting palette.
I work in an impressionist style to capture the unique Nordic light, inspired by Scandinavian landscape painters, especially those active around the turn of the 20th century.
While I create using mixed media, I predominantly finish my pieces with oil paint, as it masterfully brings out the true depth and richness of the colours.
About Me
I was born and raised on the scenic west coast of Sweden, always close to the sea. In 1999, I moved to England to study Product Design. Following my university years, I remained near London for over a decade, working as an online marketing manager.
However, being a countryside girl at heart, I eventually chose to relocate to the South West of Scotland—the perfect environment to raise my children. This beautiful region is where my family and I have now spent the past ten years, and its surroundings continue to deeply inspire my artistic practice.
I hope you enjoy exploring my work.
